Our Church History
Redeemer was established in 1969. Since the church’s first worship service, we have maintained the integrity of Lutheran doctrine, all while growing our church to continue meeting the evolving needs of our members and community.
The beginning…
In 1969, a small group from a liberal Lutheran congregation in Cedarburg recognized that their church was no longer proclaiming the truth of God’s word. This led the group to search for a church body with a sound confessional and doctrine, which led them to the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS). The first pastor held his first worship service on December 14, 1969, at the Cedarburg Town Hall.

The Journey…
By 1973, the church moved from the Cedarburg Town Hall to our first building, which is the same building in which we worship today--with some updates.

More than 50 years later…
By God’s grace, more than 50 years later, the good news of Jesus Christ is proclaimed every week at Redeemer. In 2019, the church underwent major renovation to improve the structural integrity of the sanctuary, remodel the fellowship hall and build an addition for classrooms, offices and bathrooms. The updated building reflects the lively and welcoming environment of the congregation and worship at Redeemer. We now proclaim God’s Word with five services a week offered at the church and area senior living facilities.
